Close to 500 members of the South Florida community celebrated Chai Lifeline Southeast at its 2019 Annual Gala on March 13, at Xtreme Action Park in Fort Lauderdale. The event paid tribute to Guests of Honor Gina and Mitch Sinberg of Delray Beach, Community Service Awardees Danielle and Jared Lustman of Hollywood, and Chai Builder Awardee Ben Rozsansky of Miami Beach.
The program lived up to the evening’s theme of “Dream. Hope. Inspire.” with a beautiful performance by Israeli music superstar Gad Elbaz, as well as moving presentations from three mothers who shared their personal family journey with Chai Lifeline Southeast.
“In the middle of chemo and multiple surgeries to save his leg, my son was turning 13—the year of his bar mitzvah. I assumed we would need to postpone any festivities to celebrate this milestone,” said Nancy Factor, one of those mothers. “But Chai Lifeline said, ‘We’ve got this!’ We arrived home from the hospital and our backyard was transformed into an elegant Miami Dolphin’s venue. My son read from the Haftorah. The simcha was filled with family, friends, doctors and more. We sang, danced, hugged, and celebrated. It wasn’t a night of sickness and fear, it was a night of love and happiness. It was a night of inspiration like only Chai Lifeline can create.”
Synonymous with providing joy and hope to children with serious illness and their and families, Chai Lifeline Southeast has been providing vital social, emotional and financial support to Florida’s Jewish community for over 32 years through its various programs and services.
“This was an extraordinary event and spoke to our community’s support and generosity which empowers us to continue to do our vital work,” said Ellen Weiss, MSW, director of Chai Lifeline Southeast.
