712 cyclists from across the United States and around the world completed the 17th annual Bike4Chai, raising critical funds to support Chai Lifeline’s year-round programs and services for children and families facing serious illness, crisis, and loss.
Over two days, July 29-30, riders traveled 180 miles through the Pocono Mountains and the Delaware River Valley before arriving at Camp Simcha, Chai Lifeline’s medically supervised overnight camp for children living with serious illness. There, they were welcomed by hundreds of cheering campers, counselors, staff, volunteers, and family members in an emotional celebration that has become known as the World’s Greatest Finish Line.
“Bike4Chai is about far more than the miles our riders complete,” said Rabbi Simcha Scholar, CEO of Chai Lifeline. “It is a powerful demonstration of what can happen when a community comes together with compassion and purpose. Every rider, donor, volunteer, and supporter helped create hope for children and families facing unimaginable challenges, reminding them that they never have to face those challenges alone.”
Riders departed Wednesday morning from Kalahari Resorts and Convention Center and spent two days cycling through scenic roads across Pennsylvania, including the iconic Hawks Nest overlooking the Delaware River. Months of training and fundraising culminated in an unforgettable arrival at Camp Simcha, where campers lined the roads to cheer on each cyclist as they crossed the finish line.
“For our riders, Bike4Chai is an incredible physical accomplishment,” said Rabbi Sruli Fried, Executive Director of Bike4Chai. “But what stays with them long after the ride ends are the people they meet along the way. Arriving at Camp Simcha and seeing the joy on the faces of our campers reminds every participant exactly why this ride matters. Those moments stay with you forever.”
Now in its 17th year, Bike4Chai has become one of Chai Lifeline’s signature fundraising events, bringing together cyclists of all ages and experience levels in support of children and families facing illness. Since its inception, the event has raised millions of dollars to sustain Chai Lifeline’s comprehensive network of services, including professional case management, counseling, meal delivery, transportation to medical appointments, emergency financial assistance, insurance advocacy, crisis intervention, Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha Special, i-Shine afterschool programming, and dozens of additional programs that provide hope, healing, and joy throughout the year.
