Chai Lifeline Hosts Inspiring Mother’s Retreat at Camp Simcha

From Sunday, January 5, to Monday, January 6, more than 50 mothers of children battling serious illness gathered for an unforgettable two-day retreat, hosted by Chai Lifeline. Held on the serene Camp Simcha campus in Glen Spey, NY, the retreat offered these incredible women a much-needed respite filled with connection, creativity, and care.

The program featured therapeutic and engaging activities, including candle-making, jewelry-making, a thrilling Chopped competition, and a musical performance by the talented Malky Giniger. Attendees enjoyed a cozy kumsitz, exercise sessions, and even sledding during a picturesque light snowfall. The retreat provided a chance for mothers to connect deeply with one another while recharging in a supportive and nurturing environment.

“This retreat is all about giving these mothers a space to breathe, to laugh, and to connect—not just with each other but also with the magic of Camp Simcha,” said Chai Lifeline Case Manager Bailey Loeffler.

Built into the retreat were therapeutic workshops designed to promote healing and restoration. “When going through medical crisis, it helps many to be together with people who truly understand them.” said Mrs. Chaya Rivky Fischl, a proud supporter of this initiative. She noted that “the connection mothers got from the retreat gives them oxygen to keep going, giving them a boost to keep going as primary caregivers to their families.”

One mother shared, “This retreat was just what the doctor ordered for a mother managing more than she can handle. The laughter, the camaraderie, and every detail of this program reminded me that I am not alone.”

“The 2025 Mother’s Retreat truly exemplifies the essence of Chai Lifeline,” said Rabbi Mordechai Gobioff, MSW, National Director of Client Services. “It’s about creating a safe and nurturing environment where families can find support, hope, and strength.”
