Chai Lifeline, the international support network, is excited to announce a new initiative dedicated to cultivating the future leaders of the Jewish community. As part of its Pam & Joe Lubeck and Family National Volunteer Leadership Initiative, Chai Lifeline presents the Lubeck Fellowship in Jewish Nonprofit and Communal Leadership.
This innovative fellowship program is designed to provide young men and women who have showcased dedication to volunteerism and community activism with a unique opportunity to engage with and learn from established leaders in the nonprofit sector. Participants will gain insights into the nonprofit world’s inner workings, acquire lifelong skills, and be prepared for future roles in Jewish communal leadership.
The fellowship will be offered to a select group of the most passionate volunteers from across Chai Lifeline’s national regions and Camp Simcha. They will take part in an intensive 8-session weekly virtual seminar, tentatively scheduled for October through December 2023, that will cover a wide array of topics, including Jewish values and identity, nonprofit management and marketing, education and advocacy, fundraising strategies, the role of Jewish nonprofits in the digital age, and more.
Esteemed speakers, including Jewish communal leaders, nonprofit stalwarts, philanthropists, business executives, and Chai Lifeline’s professional staff, will share their wealth of knowledge and experiences with the Fellows.
After the successful completion of the seminar, the Fellows will earn a Certificate in Jewish Nonprofit and Communal Leadership, marking their accomplishment and commitment to their community. In addition, they will become eligible for a position within Chai Lifeline, matched to their unique skills and area of interest.
Rabbi Ari Dembitzer will lead the fellowship. With his 25 years of experience as Head Counselor at Camp Simcha, Rabbi Dembitzer has inspired thousands of young individuals to realize their full potential and evolve into confident leaders and role models.
In addition to his work with Chai Lifeline, Rabbi Dembitzer has been serving as the Senior Rabbi of Beth Israel Synagogue in Omaha, Nebraska since 2015. His dynamic charisma, infectious energy, and deep Torah knowledge have drawn people from all walks of life into his community. He also serves on the board of directors of the Friedel Jewish Academy and is a member Rabbi of the Chicago Rabbinical Counsel and Orthodox Union.
