Camp Simcha, Chai Lifeline’s flagship summer program for children with life-threatening and chronic illnesses, was honored to welcome Dr. Jay Storm, Chief of Neurosurgery and Co-Director of the Neuroscience Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, for a special visit to its Glen Spey, NY campus.
During his time at camp, Dr. Storm toured the state-of-the-art medical center, met with medical staff and volunteers, and spent meaningful time with campers. He was deeply moved by the joyful atmosphere and the high level of care that allows medically complex children to safely experience the magic of summer camp.
“It’s such an incredible environment they’ve created and a sense of community that they get to be a part of,” said Dr. Storm, who spent two days at Camp Simcha. “To have partnerships with the Chai Lifeline team has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career.”

“Dr. Storm has played such a critical role in the lives of so many of our Chai Lifeline families,” said Yehoshua Brodsky, Associate Director of Chai Lifeline NJ/PA, who accompanied Dr. Storm on his visit. “To have him here at Camp Simcha, seeing the children not as patients, but as kids thriving in a place filled with joy and healing, was incredibly powerful.”
“Dr. Storm’s visit underscores the powerful partnership Chai Lifeline maintains with top medical professionals and institutions that ensure every one of our children and families receive the support and care they require as they face the most challenging times of their lives,” said Rabbi Simcha Scholar, CEO of Chai Lifeline.
Every summer, nearly 1,000 children facing serious illness take part in Simcha programming in Glen Spey and Chai Lifeline regions across the country.
