On June 1, over 60 high school seniors from Ramaz Upper School visited Camp Simcha’s Glen Spey, NY Campus for their annual Daniella Moffson Day of Service.
“The Daniella Moffson Day of Service is supported by the Daniella Moffson Foundation and one of the culminating projects of the senior year at Ramaz,” said Senior Grade Dean of Ramaz Upper School Dr. Nancy Block. “It is an opportunity to give back to the community in a meaningful way while honoring the memory of an extraordinary Ramaz alum Daniella Moffson whose life was tragically cut short.”
Students learned about the mission of Camp Simcha, to help children impacted by cancer and other pediatric illnesses, and heard words of inspiration from Daniella’s sister, Raquel at a bunkhouse dedicated in Daniella’s honor. The Ramaz seniors helped prepare the campus for Camp Simcha’s first session of the season by updating the camp library, planting flowers, and arranging the lakefront.
Head Counselor Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha Special Girls Rivky Zuckerman remarked, “there was a tremendous power having the Ramaz senior class in Camp Simcha for the Daniella Moffson Day of Service. The incredibly giving seniors came ready to do whatever it took to help prepare the campus for the upcoming season. The strength of the chessed they did in one day, in the place Daniella gave so much of herself, will definitely be remembered for many years to come. Seeing the actual campus, the students left filled with new perspectives of all the year-round kindness and responsibilities of Camp Simcha and Chai Lifeline. The Ramaz students are a group of extraordinary young adults who will surely continue to change our world for the good!”
