On March 13, over 200 Chai Lifeline kids and family members took part in Chai Lifeline Mid-Atlantic’s Purim party held in Bais Yaakov of Baltimore. The night was jam-packed with fun activities including special themed arts and crafts, a carnival, and a stunning acrobatics show. Additionally, each child received an individual Mishloach Manos.

Over 300 Enjoy Chai Lifeline West Coast’s “Off the Wall Purim Celebration”
On Sunday March 6th, over 300 Chai Lifeline West Coast children and parents came together for an “Off the Wall” Purim celebration. The party took place at Off the Wall Family Fun Center in Woodland Hills. The kids enjoyed the many fun and thrilling attractions including extreme slides, obstacle courses, moon bounces, bumper cars, ropes courses, rock walls, laser tag, arcades, arts and crafts and delicious food.

Eight years ago on a spring Shabbos morning, my wife said she was not feeling well. An hour later she was in the ICU paralyzed from the neck down. That day turned our world upside down. I was introduced to Chai Lifeline, which I had thought was simply a nice organization that gives sick kids gifts and takes them to Disney World, but over the next few months, I had realized how wrong I was. Chai Lifeline became a huge part of our lives.

Over 200 Join Chai Lifeline Southeast Purim Party
On March 6, more than 200 Chai Lifeline families and local community members took part in the Chai Lifeline Southeast annual Purim party in Hollywood, Florida. Led by volunteer Samantha Fischler, the party was held in the Brauser Maimonides Academy. Kids and parents alike enjoyed carnival games, an exciting costume competition, and even a special appearance by Miami Heat mascot Burnie.

I began working for Chai Lifeline as an administrative assistant when I was 19. One day, a girl receiving dialysis was all alone in the hospital and the regular volunteers who usually spent time with her were not available. I volunteered to go and spent my first two hours with a Chai Lifeline client. I realized then how special Chai Lifeline was and how wonderful it is to be able to give. After getting married, moving, going to school, and moving again, here I am today, working as a case manager for Chai Lifeline Southeast.

As news of war, invasion, evacuations, and military patrols reach the ears of ourselves and our children, it is expected that we and our young ones will have a variety of reactions. For some, there is a cataclysmic implication as we think of some of our religious traditions about where this is happening. For others, the drumbeat of war is all too familiar from past history. For many of our children, who have no real precedent for making sense of such real events, there is confusion, there is disbelief, failure to comprehend possible implications for the world and for the Jewish people, and for still others, there is fear which arises in different forms.
