In the aftermath of yesterday’s horrific Yom Kippur attack on a Manchester synagogue, Chai Lifeline Crisis Services has been providing immediate resources and support to the local Jewish community. Working closely with our affiliates in the UK, our team of crisis intervention specialists is offering guidance, counseling, and practical assistance to families and children shaken by this tragedy.
“On Yom Kippur, when Jews around the world stood in prayer, our brothers and sisters in Manchester were brutally attacked while davening,” said Rabbi Simcha Scholar, CEO of Chai Lifeline.” This was not only an assault on one synagogue or one community, but on the entire Klal Yisroel. Our hearts are with the Manchester kehillah during this painful time. Chai Lifeline stands shoulder to shoulder with the community to ensure no one faces this trauma alone.”
Rabbi Dr. Dovid Fox, Director of Chai Lifeline Crisis Services, added: “Acts of terror and hatred shatter a community’s sense of safety. In these moments, it is vital to restore stability, strengthen resilience, and remind families and children that they are not abandoned.”
In response to the attack, Dr. Fox has also issued a set of guidelines to help families, schools, and communities cope with fear and trauma. These resources can be accessed here.
Chai Lifeline’s Crisis Services Department has deployed professionals and trained volunteers to address both immediate and long-term emotional needs, ensuring that Manchester’s Jewish community can begin to heal.
