New York State Senator Mike Martucci, Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff, Under Sheriff Eric Chaboty, and Sullivan County Clerk Russel Reeves paid a special visit to Camp Simcha in Glen Spey, NY on Monday, July 12. The local state and county officials toured the camp facilities, met with campers, staff, and counselors, and even got in on the excitement as the camp prepared to welcome campers for the session.
“Camp Simcha is delighted to welcome our special guests and show them what we’re all about,” said Ben Brown, Camp Simcha’s director of operations.
Camp Simcha and its sister camp, Camp Simcha Special, are the flagship summer programs of Chai Lifeline, the international children’s health support network. The 125-acre campus hosts hundreds of children with life-threatening and lifelong illnesses every summer.
“This visit means the world to our kids, many of whom have spent the past year in isolation,” said Nachman Maimon, director of Camp Simcha. “It also reinforced the longstanding relationship between Camp Simcha and our neighbors in the county.”
